Commit to follow 5 health rules for 30 days:

  1. Follow a meal plan.

    • Pick any plan and just stick to it. Plans available for purchase from Melanie Douglass, R.D.

  2. Do 30-minutes of cardio each day.

    • Hike, bike, swim, walk, jog, tennis, group fitness classes. Invite a friend!

  3. Do 30-minutes of resistance training each day.

    • Bodyweight, weight room, pilates, group x classes, dumbbells at home, etc. Not sure what to do? Schedule a free consult with a trainer!

  4. Meditate for 5 minutes each day.

    • Use the Insight Timer app, it’s free. Or just find a quiet place and enjoy the silence.

  5. Cut your vice.

    • Sugar? Alcohol? Soda pop? Too much social media? Can’t put your phone down?

    • Going to bed too late? Late-night eating? Skipping out on post-workout stretching?


earn and track points

  • Earn 5 points per day for completing ALL 5 rules. If you only complete 4 of the rules, then ZERO points.

  • Earn BONUS POINTS (see/download below) for doing fun, adventurous new things that promote accountability.

  • Keep a journal/record of each day. You can write everything down, take photos of everything you do, post accomplishments on social media (#30hard, or #sarc30hard) or submit screenshots of your health data from MyZone, Apple or Google Health (heart rate data and workout history). Journals will only need to be turned into the SARC training team IF YOU CLAIM TO HAVE WON THE MOST POINTS.

  • 30% of all registration fees collected will go into a lottery pool for cash and prizes.

  • The top 3 points earners will be awarded cash prizes — after SARC team conducts a review of the claimants journal/records/proof. For proof = completed 30hard journal pages (below), pictures of food eaten, screenshots of meditations, workouts. For proof of vice, use 30hard journal pages, or your own journal format.

  • If you claim to have won 200 points, you’ll need to show records of your tallied points (5 each day, plus any bonus points earned).
